The upcoming 2023 Chevrolet Suburban has been spied for the first time. Suburban is a perfect family full-size SUV with a generous interior room. New spy shots didn’t reveal that much. Whatsoever, the heavy camouflage perfectly hides the latest changes and upgrades. However, some changes will happen and some of them are visible at first glance. Suburban will reportedly get an independent rear suspension and more technology inside the cabin.
The full-size SUV is one of the brand’s longest-running nameplates. It comes with reliability and great tradition. The biggest rivals are looking more modern and Suburban is for those who like a more aggressive and rugged approach. The sales of the 2023 Suburban should begin in the second half of 2021.
2023 Suburban: Spy Photos, Platform
The spy photos of the 2023 Chevrolet Suburban are showing a couple of changes. For a start, Suburban is a truck-based full-size SUV. It shares the platform with GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade models. It is a T1XX architecture and the new Suburban will get an independent rear suspension. Moreover, Chevy will try to reduce the vehicle’s weight by introducing more aluminum. Design-wise, Suburban continues to look robust.
The dimensions are intact but 2023MY will introduce some novelties. That includes minor modifications on the front fascia, reshaped taillights, and possibly new 20-inch aluminum wheels. Suburban offers standard roof rails, side steps, and an LED lighting system. Optionally, the base model offers a power liftgate and free-gesture-operated liftgate.
Interior Gets More Technology
The interior of the 2023 Chevrolet Suburban will introduce more standard equipment. This SUV is known as one of the most spacious SUVs ever made. Thanks to that, Suburban represents a perfect family SUV with three rows of seats. The cargo area provides 40 cubic feet of space, without folding the seats flat. Moreover, this model comes with a hidden storage area beneath the floor.
The 2023 Suburban will get improved comfort and a more modern cabin design. However, we don’t expect major changes at all. Chevy will deliver an updated infotainment system, improved graphics for touchscreen options, and more standard features. That also includes the latest driver-assistance aids that will be optional in the base trim level.
Suburban and Suburban RST Specs
Chevy will once again offer the same 5.3-liter V8 engine. Thanks to that, the 2023 Chevrolet Suburban will be able to produce 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. At this moment, 8-speed automatic gearbox is available. After Ford introduced a 10-speed automatic transmission, Chevy could do the same. As this potent V8 unit powers the Silverado pickup, Suburban could also get the same gearbox.
A 3.0-liter Duramax diesel is available. This powertrain options generates 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. If you want more power, the Suburban RST variant comes with a 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower. The base engine provides 23 mpg on the highway and only 16 mpg in the city. Besides the independent rear suspension, the new Suburban will introduce new Brembo brakes and Borla exhaust setup.
