The upcoming 2023 Genesis GV70 is caught testing last week. The spied prototype wears heavy camouflage, so some exterior details are still a mystery. On the other hand, GV70 will be based on the larger GV80 SUV. Both models are wearing the same design language, including the same headlights and taillights. However, GV70 is the Genesis’ smallest SUV.
The sales will begin next summer in the United States, and some things are still not official. That includes the engine lineup, performance figures, and the price. Here’s everything you need to know about this new SUV.
Genesis GV70 Spy Photos
The all-new 2023 Genesis GV70 will sit below the larger GV80, and it is the brand’s smallest SUV. The GV70 model has been caught on cameras recently. The spied prototype was wearing heavy camouflage, but some upgrades are visible at first glance. The fresh design is there, but GV70 won’t depart from GV80 SUV or G70 sedan. The design language is the same, and even some of the exterior features are exactly the same. Both GV70 and GV80 will use the same platform that underpins the sedan variant. Thanks to that, it is safe to say that Genesis won’t focus on delivering unique styling.
The spy shots are showing an SUV with recognizable quad headlamps. Moreover, the front fascia comes with a shield-shaped grille and horizontal headlamps with LED accents. The lower bumper will get some sort of mesh-like inserts too. The rear section will get a new spoiler, so the arriving SUV will also provide a sporty vibe. The horizontal two-piece taillights are easy to spot, along with the round exhaust tips.
Interior Features
The 2023 Genesis GV70 will arrive with a luxury cabin design. The goal is to deliver a high level of comfort and plenty of premium materials. Of course, this SUV won’t lack the latest high-tech amenities. The interior arrangement is great. Again, this cabin layout does not depart from other brand’s models such as the G80 sedan.
The spy shots failed to provide interior details. However, various reports are suggesting a 10.3-inch infotainment screen. The infotainment supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Genesis will focus on safety, so the customers should expect the newest driver-assistance aids. That includes systems such as rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keep assist.
Engine Specs, Transmission
The engine lineup is still not official. However, given the fact that the new 2023 Genesis GV70 shares the platform with GV80 SUV, engine options should be the same. That means a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with 290 horsepower will be offered as standard.
On top of that, a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 will be an optional engine. This powertrain will produce around 375 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. Both engine options will be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
2023 Genesis GV70 Price and Release Date
Price is another mystery, but the new 2023 Genesis GV70 should be available for about $40,000. So far, we’ve seen the spied prototype, so nothing is official yet. Genesis will release closer details by the end of the year. As for the release date, GV70 will hit the markets next summer.
