The all-new 2023 Land Rover Discovery is getting additional upgrades. This seven-seat SUV already offers a lot of luxury. However, the 2023MY will arrive with a new range-topping trim level. It is the Metropolitan Edition, a version that will introduce even more premium features. That includes novelties such as power-adjustable and heated third-row and new four-zone climate control.
Still, this version won’t reach the six figures, which is impressive. Of course, Land Rover will provide various updates so every trim level will be better than it was before. Without further ado, here’s everything you need to know about the new Discovery SUV.
Engine Specs
Under the hood, the new 2023 Land Rover Discovery will keep its current engine lineup. For a start, you can opt for a standard 3.0-liter V6 gasoline engine, producing 340 hp. Moreover, there is a diesel V6 engine with 255 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque. This unit comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
However, a mild-hybrid powertrain is the best possible choice. It is a potent combination of a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine and a 48V mild hybrid system. This output generates 355 horsepower and it uses an eight-speed automatic transmission. Moreover, an all-wheel-drive system comes as standard.
Metropolitan Edition
The new range-topping 2023 Land Rover Discovery Metropolitan Edition will be full of luxury. This version will now sit above the R-Dynamic HSE model. From what we hear, this model will deliver premium stuff only. For a start, the Metropolitan Edition will ride on gloss-grey 22-inch alloy wheels. It also wears silver grille and silver bumpers, instead of the black ones. On the inside, Metropolitan provides standard four-zone climate control and heated seats in the third-row.
New power-adjustable features and additional premium touches will make this edition very luxurious. Land Rover will install a new heads-up display and heated steering wheel. As for the performances, Metropolitan Edition shares the mentioned hybrid powertrain with the R-Dynamic HSE variant. Thanks to that, it will be able to tow up to 8,200 pounds.
Interior and Exterior Upgrades
According to the most recent reports, the new 2023 Land Rover Discovery will introduce a couple of exciting upgrades. All trim levels will obtain the same refreshments. However, we are still waiting to see the first spy photos and hear more details from the manufacturer.
We don’t believe in a complete redesign. Instead, Land Rover will provide mild upgrades, especially in terms of styling. LED headlights, prominent grille, and taillamps will all remain intact. As for the interior, Discovery SUV remains a seven-seat SUV with a high level of comfort and premium cabin design.
2023 Land Rover Discovery Release Date, Price
Interestingly, the new Metropolitan Edition will arrive first, in Spring 2023. However, the rest of the 2023 Land Rover Discovery trim levels will arrive a couple of months after that. The base price starts at $53,000, while the Metropolitan Edition will cost $76,500. As before, Discovery SUV will rival Volvo XC90 and Acura MDX.
