2023 Subaru Ascent Redesign and Release Date. The upcoming 2023 Subaru Ascent is a relatively new model. It arrived in 2019 as a three-row SUV, something Subaru lacked for years. Now, Ascent is ready for its first refreshments, including the improved styling and more modern interior. However, the mid-size Ascent won’t introduce significant changes, but mid-cycle facelift instead.
It is a sharp-looking SUV with a room for seven or eight passengers. Under the hood, a turbocharged engine provides good performance, while the ride comfort is also great. Ascent will continue to rival models such as Honda Pilot, Hyundai Palisade, and Kia Telluride. The sales will begin in the second half of 2021.
Performance Remains Intact
Nothing will change under the hood, but this isn’t a bad thing at all. The 2023 Subaru Ascent will ride on the same 2.4-liter flat-four engine. Thanks to a turbocharger, Ascent develops 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque.
Subaru offers a standard all-wheel-drive system, along with the continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). This gearbox basically simulates an eight-speed transmission and you can even switch to manual shift if you want to. As before, Ascent SUV will be able to tow around 5,000 pounds.
2023 Ascent Facelift
When the Ascent arrived for the first time, it created a positive impact in the mid-size SUV class. The 2023 Subaru Ascent is the fourth model of the current generation so we don’t expect drastic upgrades. However, some things will change, which is a good thing. For a start, Ascent will gain a sharper grille and refined LED headlights.
This SUV comes with 8.7 inches of ground clearance and a new model will look more stylish. Subaru also offers exterior features such as fog lights, roof rails, and possibly new exterior paints. The Touring model is a range-topping trim level that adds even more equipment and more chrome. The rear section will wear prominent exhaust outlets but the taillights will largely remain.
Interior Refreshments
The 2023 Subaru Ascent is a mid-size SUV but it actually looks bigger. The interior is spacious enough and it provides room for seven or eight passengers. The third-row is generous enough, in terms of legroom. However, the new VW Atlas will provide more room. The dashboard looks unique but it won’t suffer any sort of upgrade.

On the other hand, Subaru will update its infotainment system and we also expect to see more driver-assistance. We hope to see a new standard display, as the current 6.5-inch touchscreen looks small, so the optional 8.0-inch unit is a must-buy.
2023 Subaru Ascent Price, Release Date
The plan was to launch the new 2023 Subaru Ascent this summer. However, that won’t happen so the mid-size SUV will probably go on sale in the last quarter of 2021. The price currently starts at $33,500 and we expect to see a slightly larger price this time.
Ascent will continue to rival models such as Honda Pilot, Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride, Volkswagen Atlas, Mazda CX-9, and Toyota Highlander. Subaru will provide more details in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
