The upcoming 2023 Toyota 4Runner TRD Sport is coming to dealerships in the coming months. After years of speculations, the 4Runner SUV will finally get this famous trim level. It will be one of the range-topping variants, available with either rear- or four-wheel-drive systems. Moreover, as its name suggests, TRD Sport will add various sporty stuff.
That includes nice-looking 20-inch wheels, a hood scoop, and much more. Even some changes under the skin will be upgraded. Basically, Toyota will update every part of the 4Runner and we can’t wait to see this model on the roads. The sales will begin later this summer and the price will start at around $40k.
4Runner TRD Sport Adds Unique Details
The 2023 Toyota 4Runner TRD Sport resembles the more expensive Limited model, and it rides on the same 20-inch wheels, but with dark gray highlights. They have all-season tires on them. It will sit just above the SR5 basic model in the 4Runner lineup. And just like the Limited variant, is available with either rear- or four-wheel drive and a two-speed transfer case. The TRD Sports package includes a TRD hood scoop, black roof rails, and body-colored exterior features.
Furthermore, TRD Sport emblems are also visible on the C-pillars. The 4Runner will get serious cosmetic upgrades. Because of that, TRD Sport will also wear the latest refreshments. This variant will gain new color options, so you can choose between ten exterior paints, including Army Green and Voodoo Blue.
Interior Refreshments
The new 2023 Toyota 4Runner TRD Sport model comes with synthetic leather seats rather than regular cloth upholstery. For an instance, all Limited models are available with the same leather upholstery.
However, the TRD Sport trim level also adds the headrests with TRD emblems stitched on them. Toyota will offer unique floor mats, a new shifter, and heated front seats as standard. Every 4Runner comes standard with an 8.0-inch touchscreen that supports Amazon Alexa, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.
New Engine Still Just a Speculation
Under the hood, the same 4.0-liter V-6 engine is available. All trim levels are developing up to 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque. The 2023 Toyota 4Runner TRD Sport comes with the X-REAS adaptive dampers, while lower trim levels are using coil-spring rear suspension as standard. These dampers are hydraulically connected at opposing corners to decrease pitch and roll. The 4Runner has a towing capacity of 5000 pounds.
Some rumors are predicting a new engine for this popular SUV. The most likely candidate is a new turbo V6 output that will deliver even more power. A five-speed gearbox is no longer available, which is great to hear. A 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine is another likely outcome for the 4Runner SUV. Toyota will add new eight-speed automatic transmission. However, we are waiting for the Japanese manufacturer to reveal more details.
2023 Toyota 4Runner TRD Sport Cost and Launch Date
The starting price of the 2023 Toyota 4Runner TRD Sport is expected to be between $38,000 for the rear-wheel-drive SR5 and $47,000 for the Limited. More details will go on a surface in the coming weeks and the sales will begin in the coming months.
