The all-new 2023 GMC Sierra Kodiak Edition should represent one very exciting model. Kodiak was a package a few years ago and it was only available on the SLE trim level. Moreover, Kodiak was available in Crew Cab or Double Cab setups. Now, Kodiak will return as a special edition model, instead of the SLE’s preferred package.
Interestingly, Kodiak has been a very popular choice in Canada. After all, US customers didn’t have this package in the offer. However, General Motors plans to shuffle the cards once again and to offer Sierra Kodiak in the United States. On the other hand, Kodiak will remain a version that focuses on the interior. Still, you can expect a couple of exterior upgrades as well.
2023 Sierra Kodiak Edition Exterior Upgrades
As we just said, the exterior won’t be that changed. New 2023 GMC Sierra Kodiak Edition will wear all of the Sierra’s latest upgrades and it will look very fresh. That includes reshaped headlights and new optional wheels. The grille was slightly changed and the taillights are looking sharper now.
Just like the regular Sierra, Kodiak Edition will also use a GM T1 platform. The only exterior upgrades that we could expect are unique LED fog lamps and LED cargo box lighting. Besides that, the Kodiak variant won’t arrive with further updates.
Interior Will Host A Lot of Novelties
Back in the days, Kodiak was the most popular package that provides plenty of interior changes. It will be the same with the 2023 GMC Sierra Kodiak Edition. This model will use the same interior design and layout as the base Sierra model. However, it will add so many unique features and updates. Moreover, some of the features won’t be available on other editions and trim levels.
Once again, Kodiak will arrive only in a Crew Cab and Double Cab configurations. As for the features, this edition comes with dual-zone climate control and remote vehicle start systems. Moreover, rearview camera and 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat are available too. You can expect unique interior schemes and new active transfer case.
Same Engine Lineup
The upcoming 2023 GMC Sierra Kodiak Edition will also use the same two engines as regular Sierra. Everything starts with a 5.3-liter V8 as a standard powertrain option. It can deliver 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. A larger 6.2-liter V8 is optional and it generates 420 horses.

Moreover, its torque has been rated at 460 lb-ft of torque. Even the diesel is available and it provides more power than Ram’s EcoDiesel or Ford’s PowerStroke. Diesel displacement can produce 280 hp and 460 lb-ft of twisting power.
2023 GMC Sierra Kodiak Edition Price and Release Date
The price of the arriving Sierra 1500 will start at $34,000. That means the upcoming 2023 GMC Sierra Kodiak Edition will cost around $40,000 or slightly above that. Still, the Denali trim level is the most expensive variant that starts at over $60,000. With everything been said, Kodiak is returning, this time as a real Edition and not the package on the SEL trim level. Moreover, Kodiak Edition will also reach dealerships in the US.
