The CR-V crossover is one of Honda’s best-selling models. The upcoming 2023 Honda CR-V will be the next-gen model, according to various reports. That means we should expect more upgrades but we don’t expect a complete redesign. The reason is that the CR-V compact crossover already looks very attractive and modern.
That means the mid-cycle facelift makes more sense, despite the new generation. Interior will get more tech and more standard equipment. CR-V rides on its sixth-generation and it is one of the most reliable models in its segment. Performances will remain and the sales will begin later in 2021.
2023 CR-V Exterior Redesign
The all-new 2023 Honda CR-V will continue with visual refreshments. We don’t expect complete redesign so mid-cycle updates are perfectly reasonable. The front end already looks refreshed as Honda provided various updates last year. That includes a new bumper and a new blackout grille. Moreover, the openings are larger and the fog lights are sportier than before.
However, we could see some unique updates on specific trim levels such as EX-L and Touring. These trims will get new LED fog lights and sporty 18-inch wheels. Dimensions will remain so CR-V remains a compact crossover. As for the hybrid version, this model will look exactly like the regular gasoline-powered CR-V.
Interior Changes
The 2023 Honda CR-V will continue to offer a very modern interior with plenty of high-tech amenities. However, the next-gen CR-V should arrive with even more tech and standard equipment. This is a compact two-row crossover with a room for five passengers. Nothing will change in terms of cabin space, which is good. The CR-V is one of the most spacious models in its segment. Comfort is admirable and visibility is great thanks to the higher seating position.
The hybrid model provides almost the same cabin space, 33.2 cubic feet of cargo room to be more precise. However, if you fold the rear seats, you will get 68.7 cubic feet of space. As for the rest of the updates, CR-V will introduce a larger and optional touchscreen and the latest driver-assistance aids.
Gasoline and Hybrid Engine Specs
Unfortunately, nothing will change under the hood. The 2023 Honda CR-V remains the same in terms of performances, despite the new-gen model. Two powertrain options are available and the first one is a 1.5-liter turbo-four engine. This unit is capable of producing 190 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. The standard engine option provides 34 mpg and we are hoping to see a slight improvement in terms of fuel efficiency.
An AWD setup is optional and it slightly lowers the fuel economy. As before, CVT transmission remains. If you want more power and better fuel economy figures, CR-V Hybrid is the right choice. This version deploys a 2.0-liter four-cylinder and a pair of electric motors. This combo is good for 212 hp and the AWD system is offered as standard. The CR-V Hybrid will deliver around 40 mpg.
2023 Honda CR-V Price and Release Date
The price of the all-new 2023 Honda CR-V will start at around $25,500. On the other hand, the range-topping Touring model will cost almost $35,000. If you want the hybrid version, it is available for $28,000. CR-V crossover is more affordable than its rivals such as Toyota RAV4 and Hyundai Santa Fe. Its sales will begin later in 2021.
