According to the latest reports, the upcoming 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee will be a new-gen model. That means we can expect serious changes on this two-row five-passenger SUV. Jeep will deliver cleaner design with a couple of all-new features. The interior will get numerous refinements and it will be more upscale than ever before.
Under the hood, Grand Cherokee will continue to ride on the same engine. If you want more power, Trackhawk variant will be available once again. While we are waiting for the official details, here’s what we know so far.
2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Luxury Design
Surely, Jeep will deliver a more modern and upscale design. Latest reports are suggesting cleaner and subtle design with a couple of new exterior features. The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee will lose some muscles but the styling will be improved. Grand Cherokee will retain its dimensions and it still offers 8.6 inches of ground clearance. The athletic stance makes this SUV look impressive on the road. On the upper trim levels, you can even opt for lower ground clearance.
Moreover, you can choose between equipping Grand Cherokee with sportier features or you can opt for a luxury way. Either way, a seven-slot grille is still present and it sports taller openings. The new platform is a possibility. If that happens, rumors are suggesting the same platform that underpins the new Dodge Durango model. For now, we know that Jeep will offer new headlights, taillights, optional wheels, and enlarged bumpers.
Interior Updates
The cabin will suffer plenty of changes and Jeep will deliver numerous refinements. The goal is to deliver better design, more modern look and a greater level of comfort. As you probably know, Grand Cherokee offers incredible interior space as the new Durango SUV. The upcoming 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee could provide even more room this time. The new-gen model will surely do that if it makes a switch to the Body-On-Frame Platform.
There is still a room for five persons and legroom is ample, even in the second row. Cargo area is rated at 36.3 cubic feet on the current model. Cloth upholstery remains standard along with the power-adjustable front seats. New interior design is yet to be revealed. However, Jeep will surely install more chrome accents, new optional display and a couple of new driver-assist systems.
2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Powertrain
What we like about the Grand Cherokee is its wide range of available powertrain options. For the next-gen model, all of the engines will remain. That means the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee still offers five different outputs.
A 3.6-liter V6 remains standard and it delivers 295 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Optionally, a 5.7-liter V8 is available and it produces 360 horses and 390 lb-ft of twist. As for the diesel version, a 3.0-liter unit cranks out 240 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque.
SRT and Trackhawk Models
If you want more power, you’ll have to opt for SRT or Trackhawk versions. Grand Cherokee SRT offers a powerful 6.4-liter V8. This powertrain is capable of producing 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. On the top of the range, a Trackhawk model comes with a 6.2-liter V8. Thanks to its supercharger, SRT variant produces an impressive 707 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque. As for the mechanical details, Grand Cherokee offers a standard front-wheel-drive system. Moreover, an 8-speed automatic transmission is still the only gearbox option.
Price and Release Date
If everything goes according to plan, new 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee will hit the dealerships this fall. The new-gen model will now cost around $34,500.
We also expect the plug-in hybrid version to happen in the near future as well. Thanks to its numerous trim levels and wide engine lineup, Grand Cherokee will remain one of the most practical SUVs on the markets.
