The next-generation 2023 Mazda CX-5, which might be dubbed the CX-50, is anticipated to go upmarket. We don’t know all of the details yet, but some interesting drawings give us a sense of how it might appear. There is little information about the design of the next-generation CX-5 accessible. However, at least one disguised prototype has been spotted in recent months, and its exterior appearance did not deviate significantly from the outgoing model.
Aside from its good aesthetics, the CX-5 model will have a highly contemporary and upright interior. In terms of performance, we may expect the same SkyActiv engines as well as the mild-hybrid powertrain. The price will rise slightly for the 2023 model year, and here’s all you need to know about this new crossover-SUV.
Mazda CX-5 Rendered with a Redesign
The new 2023 CX-5 shows a revised front appearance with modified headlamps on the latest renderings. Moreover, it also has a slightly larger grille. The lower front bumper has also been modified, with reshaped air intakes and horizontal LED daytime running lights. A few additional tweaks will also happen, such as more squared wheel arches and a somewhat more upright appearance.
This popular crossover still wears a recognizable Kodo design language and it looks attractive. We especially like the Carbon Edition that rides on black 19-inch alloys and it offers unique Polymetal Gray exterior color. As before, Soul Red Crystal paint will be on offer as one of the most popular color options.
Interior Details
The cabin of the 2023 Mazda CX-50 will remain mostly unchanged. The entry-level trim is well-equipped, with a standard 10.25-inch touchscreen. Additionally, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, cloth upholstery, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel are available. The newest premium trim level is the Touring Preferred SV.
This model has a power moonroof, a bigger display, a premium Bose sound system. However, in our opinion, the Carbon Edition is the greatest model available. This model is quite athletic. It features a black interior color design with red highlights and leather seats. Lastly, Mazda will surely deliver the latest driver-assistance systems for improved safety.
Up to Six Engine Options
The upcoming 2023 Mazda CX-5 is built on the same rear-wheel-drive chassis as the next-generation Mazda6. Mazda will be able to offer at least two versions with various inline-six engines thanks to this new architecture.
One of them is a 3.0-liter gasoline engine with Mazda’s SkyActiv-X technology and a 48-volt mild-hybrid setup. On the other hand, a 3.3-liter diesel inline-six could be on offer, but this is not official yet. The current CX-5 model offers up to six powertrain options.
2023 Mazda CX-5 Release Date, Price
The forthcoming 2023 Mazda CX-5 will go on sale next summer. This handsome crossover SUV will arrive as the CX-50 model, most likely. The price will slightly increase, so the new model will cost around $26,000. On the other hand, the range-topping trim level could cost around $45,000. We are still waiting for Mazda to reveal more details, including exterior design, engine specs, and starting price.
