The forthcoming 2023 Subaru Outback will introduce further updates. After the 2021 redesign, the 2023 Outback won’t be so drastically changed. However, a hybrid powertrain and new trim level are more than enough to satisfy the customers. Besides that, the exterior and interior will gain minor updates only. Even the engine lineup will remain, but Outback SUV will continue with good sales without any doubts.
It is a model without a real competitor for various reasons. The closest rivals are Ford Edge, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Honda Passport. New Outback model will go on sale at some point in 2021, most likely in the second half of the year.
2023 Outback Exterior and Interior Changes
The all-new 2023 Subaru Outback will introduce a couple of updates. However, Japanese manufacturer won’t deliver significant upgrades after the redesign. For 2023, Subaru will provide modified taillights and a slightly larger front grille. The headlights and bumpers are a carryover. Outback comes with 8.7 inches of ground clearance, and it represents a good off-road SUV. Its Global Platform is modified recently so it can accommodate a hybrid powertrain.
As for the interior changes, Outback will get updates in terms of technology. That includes a new version of the infotainment system and new driver-assistance aids. However, new features will be optional in the base Outback variant. Moreover, Subaru will probably provide a longer list of standard equipment. Still, a 7-inch touchscreen remains, along with standard and optional upholsteries.
New Trim Level
According to various reliable reports, the new 2023 Subaru Outback will get a new trim level. Moreover, Forester and Crosstrek should arrive with the same variant as well. It is a new “Wilderness” trim level, although its name is not official yet.
It is a version that will improve SUV’s off-road capabilities. While the off-roading is boosted, we still don’t know the exact list of upgrades that this trim has to offer. The production of the 2023 Outback didn’t start yet, so Subaru will probably release more details in the next few months.
Hybrid Powertrain Specs
The upcoming 2023 Subaru Outback will introduce a hybrid powertrain option. Exact details are not available yet, but various sources are reporting about the same output. Here’s the thing, the current model is available with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder. This engine will be replaced with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder unit. New engine will use a turbocharger, and it will produce 260 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque.
That is a huge improvement, and Subaru will also deliver CVT transmission and a standard AWD system. The hybrid system will combine a new engine with electric motors and a battery pack. Total output will be rated at around 250 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, Subaru promises over 35 mpg combined.
2023 Subaru Outback Release Date and Price
The approaching 2023 Subaru Outback should once again cost around $27,000. As for the hybrid variant, the price will start at $32,000 or slightly above that. According to Subaru, the all-electric Outback will reach the markets in 2023. Before that, the 2023 Outback with hybrid powertrain will go on sale at some point in 2021. Outback SUV will continue to rival Ford Edge, Honda Passport, and Hyundai Santa Fe.
