The upcoming 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan will arrive with new styling and refreshed interior design. The compact crossover will suffer a couple of modifications of the front fascia and the cabin will get a fully digital cockpit. Moreover, VW plans to offer a long-wheelbase version that will go on sale next fall. The price will slightly increase, which is good news.
The current Tiguan managed the most sales so far and the German manufacturer believes that the latest refreshments will improve its sales. This crossover continues to impress in so many categories and we believe the 2023 Tiguan will be the best one yet. Here’s everything you need to know about this model and its latest changes.
2023 Tiguan Changes
The all-new 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan will gain numerous exterior refreshments. The trim level that excites us the most is the SEL R-Line model. This version will gain an even more attractive look, new 20-inch wheels, and much more. The SE R-Line comes with 19-inch rims and new R-Line-specific bumpers. The bumpers will wear new black accents. All trim levels will get redesigned front fascia.
Thanks to that, Tiguan now comes with a sleeker grille, standard LED headlights, and larger lower air dams. Compared to the 2023 Tiguan, the 2023 model looks more attractive and its front end is more squared-off. The dimensions are unchanged and the rear section wears a new Tiguan badge below the Volkswagen logo.
Interior Updates
The biggest change inside the cabin is a new fully digital cockpit. The 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan now offers a cockpit that is very similar to the cockpit of the Golf GTI. A digital steering wheel comes with additional touch-sensitive buttons and it looks sporty. The heated/ventilated seats are now standard and you can control their temperature manually. The same is with the climate control that is operated via touch sliders.
The Tiguan offers a new MIB3 infotainment system and a standard 8-inch touchscreen. On the other hand, a 10.3-inch display is standard on the upper trim levels. Volkswagen offers a 15-color ambient light system that looks very impressive. Moreover, this system is standard on all trims. Fender audio system is in the offer and the new Travel Assist system is optional. This system takes over the vehicle at speeds up to 130 mph. It uses adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist aids.
No Changes Under the Hood
Like the current Tiguan crossover, the new model will deploy the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine. The 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan generates 184 hp and 220 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is offered as standard and Tiguan sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 8.3 seconds.
Rivals such as Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Mazda CX-5 are still slightly faster. Volkswagen offers a stop/start system as standard and Tiguan delivers 22 mpg on the highway according to the latest tests.
2023 Volkswagen Tiguan Price and Release Date
As we said, the new 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan will offer a long-wheelbase variant. According to the German automaker, the compact crossover will go on sale in fall 2021. The price starts at $25,000 which is a slightly higher price than it is today. The SEL-R trim level will cost almost $35,000.
