The upcoming 2023 VW Atlas is a large SUV with three rows of seats. This model will be available in the coming months. The Atlas has been Volkswagen’s biggest SUV since its introduction in 2018, sitting above the smaller Tiguan and Taos SUVs.
Atlas is still a relatively new model. However, because customers preferred the design of its cousin, the Atlas Cross Sport, VW decided to tweak the bumpers of the 2021 Atlas to more closely reflect its sportier sibling. We anticipate that the 2023 Atlas will be a carryover model, considering it is only the second model year following the revamp. Atlas will compete with Honda Pilot, Mazda CX-9, Kia Telluride, and Toyota Highlander.
2023 Atlas Will Receive Minor Cosmetic Updates
The 2021 Atlas features redesigned headlights, grille, taillights, and bumpers. Because of that, the 2023 VW Atlas won’t introduce major visual upgrades. The modern Atlas appears to be very upscale, particularly the front fascia. Atlas also has smooth bodyside lines, subtle hood ridges, and a very modern tailgate.
This may irritate some customers, but Volkswagen is willing to continue with the current exterior design. In our opinion, Atlas looks attractive. The 17-inch wheels are once again standard, while we recommend optional 20-inch rims. The manufacturer could deliver new exterior colors or some unique features for specific trim levels. Still, changes are far from significant.
Interior Refreshments
The forthcoming 2023 VW Atlas has a standard Volkswagen interior. This SUV offers some cheap plastic materials in entry-level models. Still, Atlas comes with soft-touch materials, a clean cabin design, and a simple arrangement of the controls. The flat-bottom steering wheel and touchscreen help to break up the monotony, but only for a split second. We anticipate that this straightforward interior design will stay in Atlas 2023.
The current Atlas does not leave anyone wishing for additional equipment, since its base feature set is adequate for the majority of users. A 6.5-inch touchscreen is standard, along with the Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and cloth seats. If you want more luxury, an 8-inch display is optional. Moreover, VW offers an optional 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster, tri-zone climate control, and leather upholstery.
Two Powertrain Options
The current Atlas is available with two powertrain options. Nothing will change in the 2023 VW Atlas, according to the most reliable reports. Everything starts with the base 2.0-liter turbo-four engine. This unit produces 235 horsepower.
However, the optional 3.6-liter V6 is the real deal with 276 horsepower. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard front-wheel-drive. The all-wheel-drive system is optional. We anticipate that these engine options will remain intact in the 2023 Atlas.
2023 VW Atlas Price, Release Date
New 2023 VW Atlas does not yet have an official release date. However, many reliable sources are predicting July 2021 as the most likely launch date. There are no official pricing data for the 2023 Atlas, but the price shouldn’t change. Thanks to that, this SUV will begin at $32,565 and it will cost up to $51,920. As we said, Atlas will rival models such as Honda Pilot, Chevy Traverse, Kia Telluride, Ford Explorer, etc.
