The heavy-duty truck 2023 Chevrolet Silverado HD based on the brand’s popular Silverado half-ton pickup will reportedly arrive next year. Available as the three-quarter-ton 2500 or one-ton 3500 model, the Silverado HD is more significant than the Silverado 1500.
Also, it’s more powerful and can handle more significant amounts of payload and towing. According to Chevy, this truck can tow a maximum of 35,500-pound, which is almost best-in-class. Ford with the Super Duty can tow 37,000-pound, while Ram Heavy Duty isn’t far behind with its 35,100-pound rating. Besides great towing ability, this truck is robust, and it provides a very modern interior.
2023 Chevrolet Silverado HD Exterior
Rated as one of the stronger truck on the market, the new 2023 Chevrolet Silverado HD will be much more robust than before. Looking at this truck, you’ll first notice a massive grille with Chevrolet lettering. Interestingly, the grill height can reaches the necks of some adults. We also like the enlarged corner steps that make it easier to access this huge truck.
In the back, the HD models come with the new DuraBed that’s exclusive to heavy-duty models. According to the manufacturer, this model offers a class-leading volume of 83.5 cubic feet with the long-bed option. Trailer-tow mirrors are standard, as the power-operated tailgate.
Cabin Upgrades
Like the half-ton 1500 sibling, the new 2023 Chevrolet Silverado HD will be as same modern inside. This truck comes with a very spacious cabin that can fit from three to six passengers depending on cab choice. In general, if you need additional space, we recommend the roomier crew-cab over the double cab.
Still, compared to the Ram Heavy Duty models, the Silverado’s interior is not quite tech-rich. It comes with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system vs. a Ram Heavy Duty truck’s massive 12-inch infotainment screen. However, it offers High Country trim that adds a ton of features like heated and ventilated seats, leather upholstery, and a head-up display.
2023 Chevrolet Silverado HD Engine Specs
Like the current generation, the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado HD trucks offer a choice of two big engines. The entry-level model is using a standard 6.6-liter gasoline V8 that replaces the previous-gen 6.0-liter Vortec. This unit produces 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque and is comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Alongside, the manufacturer also offers an optional Duramax 6.6-liter turbodiesel with 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque.
In general, if towing heavy loads is your priority, we recommended going for a 6.6-liter Duramax diesel. With this engine, towing is increased to best-in-class 35,500 pounds. Unlike the gasoline engine, the diesel one uses a new 10-speed Allison automatic transmission.
