2023 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV Cop Vehicle Review & Redesign. The brand-new 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV is not an everyday vehicle. The PPV stands for “Police Pursuit Vehicle” that will serve for patrolling and for high-speed use. There is also a new SSV variant or “Special Service Vehicle” that will be oriented towards the off-roading.
Both versions will use the same V8 engine taken from Camaro ZL1. The performances are great, but what will like about the new Tahoe PPV is the aggressive design. This SUV looks genuinely amazing, and even the interior is modified and more equipped than the regular Tahoe.
2023 Tahoe PPV Looks More Aggressive
The upcoming 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV will ride on 20-inch steel wheels. Moreover, exclusive Firestone Firehawk Pursuit tires are available. Chevy also added 16-inch six-piston Brembo brake calipers in front. This should help the SUV to reduce stopping distances by eleven feet when compared to the regular Tahoe. Design-wise, Tahoe PPV is based on the Z71 trim level.
That is especially visible upfront with a rugged grille and a higher approach angle. On top of that, the front skid plate is visible as well. As this is a police vehicle, PPV will get a large front steel bumper. Lastly, the independent rear suspension will provide even better ride quality and more cargo room.
Interior Equipment
Inside, this police vehicle will introduce a couple of modifications. The 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV will get new seats. The seats will provide more hip room because the officer wears a utility belt. Chevy added a rear camera mirror and plenty of driver-assistance aids. That includes lane keep assist, forward collision alert, lane departure warning, and auto emergency braking.
Of course, this is not a police vehicle without extra tech such as radios and computers. In order to handle that extra electrical load, Tahoe PPV will get dual batteries with emergency equipment isolation. This system comes with a 760-amp auxiliary battery and a high-output alternator. We said the cargo area would be larger, and even the second-row seats will offer more legroom.
Engine Specs, Transmission
Both the 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV and SSV variants will use the same 5.3-liter V8. This engine is capable of producing 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, powerful V8 comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission and Dynamic Fuel Management. This system uses 18 different firing patterns to maximize fuel economy. Thanks to that, the PPV will spend more time on patrol and less at the gas station.

Chevy also added the rocker covers from the Camaro ZL1 model. This should improve crankcase ventilation so the SUV can handle higher lateral loads. Even the heavy-duty cooling system has been added. Lastly, there is an optional Max Trailering Package, and with it, PPV tows up to 8,200 pounds. Logically, this SUV will only use a 4WD system and a two-speed transfer case.
2023 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV Introduction Date
This isn’t the vehicle you want to see in your rearview mirror, but it will arrive at the beginning of 2023. The 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV and SSV variants will surely catch your eye out on the road and don’t try to escape them.
