2022 Ford Escape The 2022 Ford Escape is a small SUV that sits right in the middle of the Dearborn lineup, above the smaller Ford EcoSport and below the three-row Ford Edge and Explorer. Car manufacturers. They include the Toyota RAV4, Honda CRV, Mazda CX5, and Jeep Cherokee. Escape was completely redesigned a few years ago and we don’t expect major changes for 2022. The
Despite being one of the newer vehicles in its class, the Escape hasn’t really caught the eye. The Escape’s transmission paired to a conventional petrol engine – a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-three or a 2.0-liter turbo inline-four – takes time. from Poland.
And while not every car needs to feel athletic, the Escape features more body roll and generally feels less sturdy than we’d like. If driving was better, our rating would be much higher.
Escape does a lot of other things. The cockpit is comfortable and spacious and has all the onboard technology and driver assistance. And while cargo space isn’t the best in class, we found the Escape to be perfect for what we’d expect from a small SUV.
2022 Ford Escape Review
The Ford Escape arrives as a completely redesigned model in 2020, giving automakers a competitive choice in a dazzling compact class. With the SUV entering its third sales model year of a full update, we expect the 2022 Ford Escape to be the report model.
The current Escape arrives in 2020 with a European luxury design that’s much more curved than the previous generation: the wide grille sits low on the front fairing, while the wide headlamps and notched hood are sporting elements on the front of the SUV. . The rear of the current Escape is simpler, with softer edges, oval taillights and dual exhaust pipes. Being a carryover model, we expect the 2022 Ford Escape to retain the same exterior design as the current model.
Inside, the clean design continues with the striking dashboard. The infotainment screen is located above the dashboard and is separated from the physical infotainment buttons and dials by a long decorative element. The large dial and HVAC system are located at the bottom of the center console for dial up, the gearbox frees up space. The 2022 Ford Escape will have the same overall interior design as the model currently on sale.
The next Ford Escape 2022 will share the same technological features as the current model: a 4.2” display, six-speaker audio system, USB port and Bluetooth are now standard. Optional features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, 8-inch touchscreen.” , WiFi hotspot, navigation and Bang and Olufsen audio system with 10 speakers. Ford
offers the current Escape with three different powertrains, which are expected to remain the same for the 2022 model year. The standard engine is a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder producing 181 horsepower. A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is the next step and is rated at 250 hp. The current Escape is also available in hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, both with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor. 221 hp Both turbo engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, while the electrified powertrain features a continuously variable automatic transmission.
From a safety point of view, the current Escape is equipped as standard with a rear traffic warning system, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, lane assist and automatic high beam assist. NHTSA gives the SUV an overall safety rating of five stars. These features and safety ratings are expected to remain the same for the 2022 Ford Escape.
2022 Ford Escape Specs
Ford Escape 2022 The good news is that Ford has expanded the availability of the hybrid powertrain to the SE and SEL trims for 2022; now standard on top specs Titanium models.
Elsewhere, adaptive cruise control and road sign recognition features join the optional Co-Pilot360 Plus package; hands-free power lift doors and memory settings for the driver’s seat and exterior mirrors are now part of the Technology package; and a power-adjustable 10-way driver seat, keyless keypad and LED exterior lighting are now on the feature list in the Comfort package.

The Ford Escape 2022 is a small SUV that competes with segment giants including the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4.
Redesigned last year, this versatile crossover is more spacious and more powerful than the previous Escape, while a range of new engines ensures there’s a powertrain to suit any budget or buyer’s needs.
here comes to the newest off-road-capable Ford Bronco heralding the brand’s new focus on off-the-grid adventures, but its bread-and-butter Escape crossover still caters to the family car crowd on the road.
Knowing all the all-wheel drive is available, but the Escape doesn’t have the advanced all-terrain gear like the new, bigger stablemate to take anywhere.
Four different powertrains are offered including an optional hybrid and plug-in hybrid setup, which aims to suck up fuel and provide an extra electric-powered boost when needed.
The cabin is very stylish The Escape matches its subtle exterior styling, but the most affordable models project an inexpensive atmosphere that may upset some buyers.
Despite its drawbacks, the Escape remains a viable choice for compact SUV buyers, but competitors such as the Mazda CX-5 and Volkswagen Tiguan offer better refinement, nicer furnishings, and more driving pleasure for the same money.
That’s especially true for this year’s model, which extends the availability of the hybrid model to the SEL trim level.
On the inside, the Escape offers Ford’s latest Sync infotainment interface – one of the most user-friendly touchscreen systems in its class. There is also a long list of security features available.
Among them is adaptive cruise control, which can now recognize speed limit signs and adjust Escape speed.
Apart from some flaws, such as unstable transmission shifting and poor handling capability, Escape is a strong contender in one of the toughest segments in the market.

2022 Ford Escape Hybrid
Ford helped create the hybrid SUV segment when it introduced the Escape Hybrid in 2005.
A decade and a half later, the 2020 Escape Hybrid made its debut with higher efficiency than before and a plug-in hybrid variant offering an all-electric driving distance of 37 miles.
The Escape Hybrid isn’t quite as exciting as the 1.5T or 2.0T variants, but it’s still our favorite Escape.
Why? Fuel savings is the main reason. The hybrid powertrain provides significant improvements in city and road efficiency, plus total driving distance.
What’s more, the Escape’s plug-in hybrid offers a 37-mile all-electric range, making lots of drive possible without using any gas. It also achieves a three-digit mpg-e rating.
The 2021 Escape Hybrid is available in more trim and features a responsive powertrain, as well as a smooth transition between regenerative braking and friction, a trait that all hybrids cannot claim.
Unfortunately, the interior still feels cheap like the standard Escape, which is not as high quality as some segment competitors. The passenger space is good, but the cargo area takes a bit of a blow to accommodate the batteries.
It may not feel premium or exciting, but the Escape Hybrid is a go-to. Great fuel economy, spacious interior, and standard active safety technology are reasons to consider if you are already considering Ford.
If you look outside of Ford, however, the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and the Honda CR-V Hybrid are both attractive.
2022 Ford Escape Plug In Hybrid Ford Escape 2022What’s new
- The Hybrid is now available on the SE and SEL trims
- SE trim power-adjustable driver seat is now part of the Comfort package (non-standard)
- The Co-Pilot360 driver assistance suite gets road sign recognition
- New paint color choices: Antimatter Blue, Bronze Fire, Carbonized Gray, and Iconic Silver
Performance and Fuel Savings
The Escape Hybrid uses an automatic CVT and has standard FWD, with AWD available. The 2.5-liter I-4 engine and electric motor combine to produce 200 hp.
In the MotorTrend test, the AWD Escape Hybrid accelerates from 0-60 mph in 8.7 seconds.
Fuel savings with an EPA rating on the 2020 model are 44/37 mpg city/highway for the FWD model; AWD models lose one mpg while driving in the city.
The Escape Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) is for FWD only and combines a 2.5-liter Hybrid engine with a 14.4 kWh battery pack, generating power up to 221 hp.
It offers Level 1 (110-volt) and Level 2 (240-volt) charging, which each take around 11 hours or 3.3 hours to recharge the battery. At full power, the Escape PHEV can go up to 37 miles on pure electric power.
The EPA provides a combined rating of 41 mpg and 100 mpg-e. Acceleration from 0-60 mph is estimated at 9.0 seconds.
Security
From the NHTSA, Escape Hybrid gets a five-star rating, the highest score. It factors in a five-star front and side accident score with a four-star rollover score.
From IIHS, the Escape Hybrid model equipped with the available LED headlamps earned the title Top Safety Pick 2020.
The Ford SUV scored the highest Good in every crash due diligence, an indication of a possibly very good safety rating in 2022.
Also contributing to the award is the standard automatic emergency braking system, which scores Superior, the highest rating available, in each test.
While the Escape’s upgraded optional driver assistance package also gets a Superior vehicle-to-vehicle score, vehicle-to-pedestrian braking only scores an Advanced score, as it doesn’t reduce the speed that much.
The Escape Hybrid features automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane guard assistance, rear traffic warning, and automatic high beam as standard.
Opting for the Co-Pilot Assist Plus system adds adaptive cruise control and road sign recognition. The Escape Hybrid can also be equipped with a semi-autonomous parking system.
Cargo Space and Interior Space
The Escape Hybrid’s cargo area measures between 30.7 and 34.4 cubic feet behind the second-row seats, depending on whether the seats are shifted forward.
Folding the second row increases cargo capacity by up to 60.8 cubic feet. Due to the trunk-mounted hybrid battery, the cargo volume is less than the standard Escape by about 3.0 cubic feet behind the second row, and a maximum of about 4.5 cubic feet.
Even though Ford’s cargo area should work for most buyers, that doesn’t mean that the RAV4 hybrid and the plug-in hybrid are wider for cargo than Ford’s competitors.
The front row headroom measures 40.0 inches on the Escape Hybrid, compared to 37.7 inches on the sunroof-equipped Toyota RAV4 Hybrids.
The second row’s headroom is closer, at 39.3 inches in the Escape and 39.7 inches in the RAV4.
Ford offers more front legroom, with 42.4 inches compared to Toyota 41.0. The second-row legroom is also larger at 38.9 inches compared to the RAV4’s 37.8 inches, even though the Escape Hybrid has 1.8 inches less rear legroom than the standard Escape.
Technology
All Escape Hybrids and plug-in hybrids are equipped with an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen that includes satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
The entry-level Escape plug-in trim has the display of a 6.5-inch digital gauge cluster, while the higher-end trim and all Escape Hybrids have a 12.3-inch digital gauge display.
The standard audio system includes six speakers, and a premium Bang & Olufsen 10-speaker setup is available.
Is there a 2019 Ford Escape Hybrid
The new Escape Hybrid offers two trim levels, the SE Sport and Titanium, while the plug-in hybrid escape comes only in a top SEL and Titanium trim.
The 2019 Ford Escape currently starts at $ 25,200 and ranges past $ 37,000 for the full-choice Titanium 4WD.
2022 Ford Escape Changes
Escape Hybrid gets an upgrade As we said, the Ford Escape 2022 will offer the same engine lineup. It all started with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo engine with 180 hp.
Escape offers a front-wheel and all-wheel-drive system. … The 2.0-liter turbo-four variant is optional and can produce up to 250 horsepower.
The Ford Escape 2022 will feature the same engine configuration as the current 2020 model. An 18-hp EcoBoost standard 1.3-liter turbo 3-cylinder and a 250 hp 2.0-liter inline-4 turbo, optionally with the SEL and Titanium models.
A hybrid upgrade to the SE Sport trim with a 2.5-liter Atkinson Cycle 4-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors and a CVT will also be available with the Ford Escape 2022.
Importantly, Escape 2022 is also slated to get a plug-in hybrid model as opposed to a plug-in hybrid. in Toyota RAV4 Prime which was recently launched.
With one of the engines, Escape felt it had the right strength to carry it all day long.
While the standard 3-cylinder offers a mix of efficiency and light punch, the optional 2.0-liter turbo-powered 250 hp adds even more power to its character.
With a 2.0 liter turbo, the Escape is much faster and its powerful mid-range allows it to pass easily on the highway. Apart from the CVT in the hybrid model, each Escape is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The 8-speed automatic shifts smoothly but seems a little hesitant when downshifting.
With an optional 250 hp 2.0-liter turbo engine, the Ford Escape has an edge over its competitors in terms of power. It is also one of the best handlings and driving cars in its segment.
But all the cars here have the same power base engine, let alone the slightly better 203 hp RAV4. Unsurprisingly at all, this simple machine was meant for value and practicality rather than being a track hunter.

2022 Ford Escape Titanium AWD
The Ford Escape 2022 is a compact crossover SUV that has three distinct personalities.
Turbo-3 powered, it is an economical person/cargo carrier. Choose a hybrid powertrain and it’s more economical. Replace the turbo-4 and it turns into an exciting and passionate highway explorer.
Five trim levels come with a petrol engine: S, SE, SE Sport, SEL, and Titanium. The hybrid powertrain is offered in the SE Sport and Titanium form.
On the base S, SE, and SEL models, the 1.5-liter turbo-3 engine produces 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque.
The titanium trim enjoys a more powerful 2.0-liter turbo-4, with 250 hp and 280 pound-feet of power. The two engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Standard front-wheel drives with turbo-3; all-wheel drive is optional. The Titanium Edition only comes with an all-wheel drive. The driver can choose from five modes: Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery, or Snow / Sand.
The Hybrid Escapes uses a petrol / electric powertrain. The 2.5-liter inline-4 gas engine works according to the electric motor and the 1.1 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
The hybrid powertrain develops a combined 200 horsepower and 209 pound-feet of torque.
The hybrid uses a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and can reach any legal highway speeds running on electric power alone.
Ford equips each Escape with a robust suite of safety technologies, including automatic emergency braking, active lane control, and a blind-spot monitor. Optional adaptive cruise control has a path-centered provision.
The NHTSA trial gave the Escape a five-star rating overall, as well as for frontal and side impacts. IIHS names it the Top Safety Pick – but only in Titanium trim, which includes LED headlamps that are rated “Acceptable”.
The lower trim level has halogen headlamps, which are rated only “Marginal”.
During the 2022 model year, plug-in hybrids go on sale. The plug-in can be charged in 3.5 hours at a Level 2, 240-volt charging station. The electric range alone is about 30 miles.
Around
Slim in shape and almost creamy, the Escape 2022 emits just the right amount of bright light. The soft-looking headlights flank the wide grille on the low set, showing a cheerful personality.
Like a car in appearance, especially on the front, the Escape stands far from the unlucky nature of, say, the Toyota RAV4. Closer to the rear, the Ford compact shows a greater resemblance to rival crossovers.
Leaving the hot-hatchback line from the previous generation Escape, the 2022 version looks more organic and welcoming. At 180.5 inches long, the new model is about two inches longer than before.
In-Depth
Compared to its new body, the Escape’s interior feels much gloomy. Although quite stylish, less “busy” than its predecessors, the restrained form of the cabin is not helped by the dark plastic and wood grain trim.
Because the body has just been refined, Escape still provides abundant passenger space.
The front bucket seat with narrow support appears to be smaller. The bottom pillow is short, with rounded corners and inadequate leg support. The bigger rider may not be happy. The headroom is fine.
The back seat is better, especially if it is upholstered, which is more supportive than leather.
The bench slides over the track to fit passenger and cargo space. Adults can easily fit into the backseat, and enjoy excellent legroom.
With the rear seatback lowered, the total cargo volume is 65.4 cubic feet (slightly less on a Hybrid vehicle). Raising the back of the chair will reduce the usable 37.5 cubic feet. The center console provides deep and useful storage.
Driving Impression
Crossovers don’t have to be boring. Ford’s reworked Escape is an interesting and clever example, ready to give it the acceleration it deserves for a tough curb grip. Even the thrifty hybrids are fun to drive.
The turbo-3 engine is off to an encouraging note as it gives off reasonable acceleration, with moderate thrust during takeoff. The fluid response can be expected when passing on or combining.
For those wanting more zing, a 250-hp turbo-4 awaits in the Titanium trim.
New shift programming allows for greater manual control of the 8-speed automatic transmission.
Unlike the previous Escape, the 2022 model rode better than steering – but both were good too.
Even with 19-inch wheels, the slap, bump, and bump have been dampened, if not restrained. Escape 2022 remains composed of moderate bumps.
The handling isn’t as cool as it used to be, due to a redesigned suspension that prioritizes ride control.
Steering is still solid in Sport mode, but the new Escape doesn’t quite keep up with the agility of its predecessor on the twisty two-lane roads.
The hybrid acceleration exceeds the average, without interfering with the incredible ride. The feel of steering and ride control is almost a match for the non-hybrid Escapes.
The fuel mileage estimate exceeded that of some competitors. With front-wheel drive, the turbo-3 model is rated EPA at 27 mpg city, 33 highway, 30 combined.
All-wheel drive drops the figure to 26/31/28 mpg. The model with the turbo-4 is rated 23/31/26 mpg. The front-drive hybrid gets a city rating of 44 mpg, 37 highway, 41 combined.
Price
The price includes a destination fee of $ 1,245. The base model S ($ 26,130 with front-drive, $ 27,630 with all-wheel drive) is equipped with upholstery, 17-inch steel wheels, and automatic emergency braking. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility is missing.
The SE ($ 28,350 with FWD, $ 29,850 with AWD) gets an 8.0-inch touchscreen and satellite radio, with Apple CarPlay / Android compatibility.
The SE also adds heated front seats, 10-way power driver seats, keyless ignition, automatic temperature control, heated mirrors, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
The SE Sport Hybrid ($ 29,510 with FWD, $ 31,010 with AWD) replaces the petrol / electric powertrain and gets a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. The SE Plug-in Hybrid ($ 34,285) only comes with a front-drive.
The SEL ($ 30,510 with FWD, $ 32,010 with AWD) is equipped with a turbo-3 engine, hands-free power rear door, 18-inch wheels, and a reverse parking sensor.
Choosing the turbo-4 / AWD option raised the price by $ 2,285. The SEL Plug-in Hybrid ($ 36,865) only comes with a front-drive.
Topping the lineup, the Titanium ($ 38,080) comes with an all-wheel-drive only and includes 19-inch wheels, Bang & Olufsen audio, navigation, acoustic glass, leather upholstery, ambient lighting, and a 110-volt AC outlet.
Active track control and active park assistance are also standard. The Titanium Hybrid ($ 34,795 with FWD, $ 36,295 with AWD) replaces the petrol / electric powertrain, while the Titanium Plug-in Hybrid ($ 40,080) has the front-drive and can be charged at an electrical outlet.
Given the small car, the Escape and Focus are both based on Ford’s modular C2 platform, it stands to reason that the ST version of the first will use the EcoBoost 2.3-liter turbo petrol four-cylinder engine, possibly combined with AWD to match it. rival.
Where things get really interesting, however, is the tone of such a unit. The FWD Focus ST develops 206kW / 420nm, but their output falls short of that of the 2.0-liter Tiguan R (235kW / 420nm) and the 2.5-liter Tucson N Line (213kW / 422Nm), so the Escape ST can get a tweak.
Either way, an ST will be a step up from the sportier version of the Escape currently available, the FWD or AWD ST-Line, which is motivated by the EcoBoost 2.0-liter EcoBoost 183kW / 387Nm turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine.
If Escape ST becomes a reality, expect it to be at least another year away. Meanwhile, a series of regular Escape events will be in Australian showrooms in mid-November.

2022 Ford Escape Interior
Looking at the inside of the cabin The Escape, although beautifully laid out and spacious for passengers in the front and rear seats, has several plastic rental panels, including panels on the doors and bottom center console.
High-textured fabric upholstery is standard, while higher trim levels receive a reassuring faux leather seating surface or genuine leather in top-spec Titanium.
Behind the rear seat of the Escape is ample cargo space that provides room for eight carry-on cases, which tie up its rival, the Chevrolet Equinox.
We installed 21 cases with the Escape’s rear seats folded, but the Equinox accommodates two more.
While the base model S comes with a 4.2-inch radio screen and AM / FM radio for sole entertainment, the SE trim levels and above get a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen display with Ford’s latest Sync 3 infotainment interface and Apple capabilities. CarPlay / Android Auto.
The smartphone app provides remote access to vehicle telematics and remote starting on all Escape models, but the most connected and high-tech Escape is the Titanium model, which comes standard with the B&O Play 10-speaker audio system, navigation on the dashboard, and a digital meter display. 12.3 inches. A pop-up head-up display is optional.
2022 Ford Escape Engine
For engines during last year’s SEMA, Ford hinted at how the Escape’s performance could be seen with the Air Design USA Escape Sport Hybrid concept, which features a two-tone black-and-white exterior finish, sporty fenders, silver skid plates, and 20-inch Forgiato Flow 001 wheels.
Unfortunately, the prototype is unlikely to inspire a production model with a similar sporty and more powerful appearance.
Or, at least, that’s what FordAuthority reports, citing “a source with knowledge of FoMoCo’s product plans.”
According to the publication, there will be no Escape ST contrary to rumors from about a year ago. It’s the same story in Europe, where the crossover is sold under the Kuga moniker and will remain limited to non-performance versions only.
Customers on the Old Continent, however, will soon have options that are not available in the United States.
It’s called the Puma ST and will be a performance variant of the funky little crossover, which will be powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine. We’ve seen the prototype testing of that model and it’s a matter of time until we see the final production version.
If you live in Europe, there is one more interesting option. The Kuga ST-Line offers a visual enhancement over the regular model, but it doesn’t come with any performance improvements.
The current Kuga engine lineup includes a 1.5 liter EcoBoost with 150 horsepower, a 1.5-liter diesel with 120 hp, a 2.0-liter diesel with 150 hp and 190 hp, and a plug-in hybrid powertrain with 225 hp.
In the United States, you can have the same 1.5-liter turbo gas unit and PHEV plant, plus the 2.0-liter 250-hp EcoBoost.
The Escape 2022 offers a wide variety of powertrains, starting with the 181 hp 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder that can be had with front-wheel drive or all.
The triple turbo engine, while a little grumpy and not smooth, provided adequate acceleration and managed to motivate the Escape SE with all-wheel drive to 60 mph in 7.7 seconds on our test track.
Upgrading to a 250-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder is an attractive option and powerful enough to score a 5.7-second result in the same zero-to-60-mph test. The two petrol engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
To overcome new competition in the form of the hybrid Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 Prime, Ford is also offering two Escape hybrids – one of which is plug-in – and the powertrains consist of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and two electric motors combined to produce 221 hp power.
The plug-in hybrid model will carry a 14.4 kWh battery – which is good enough for an EPA – estimated 37 miles of electric-only driving.
When we have the opportunity to test plug-in models and learn more about the plug-in hybrid capabilities, we will update this story in more detail.
2022 Ford Escape EPA
According to the significant EPA results, the three-cylinder 1.5-liter turbocharged model with front-wheel drive will offer the highest estimated fuel economy among the nonhybrid Escape models.
It’s rated for 27 mpg city, 33 mpg highway and a combined 30 mpg; adding all-wheel drive would bring those numbers down to 26 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and a combined 28 mpg.
We tested an all-wheel-drive model with a three-cylinder turbo and managed to deliver an impressive 35 mpg over the fuel-efficient 200-mile highway route.
Although the larger, all-wheel-drive 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine scored a combined 23 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 26 mpg, we ended up with 32-mpg highway results in our tests.
For those looking for the most efficient Escape, look no further than the plug-in hybrid model, which delivers a fuel economy rating as high as a city of 44 mpg.
2022 Ford Escape Release Date
Talking about the price and release schedule, we have yet to get the exact information, we hope Ford will release it as soon as possible. Seeing the best value from this lineup is the mid-range SEL trim with the front-wheel drive.
The SEL adds many conveniences that compact SUV buyers will appreciate, including rear parking sensors, memory settings for the driver’s seat and exterior mirrors, fake leather upholstery, remote start feature, heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, a hands-free power liftgate, headlights. fog, and roof rack side rails.
Ford has not provided information on when the 2022 Escape will be officially released. Based on previous years, we predict the arrival of autumn 2021.
