Nowadays, the pickup truck segment is stronger than ever before. Basically, each brand has at least one pickup in its lineup. The forthcoming 2023 Mazda BT-50 is a good example as it is Mazda’s only model in this segment. Mazda plans to build more trucks, both light-duty and heavy-duty. However, BT-50 is currently the only one.
The Covid-19 pandemic caused several brands to reschedule their plans but Mazda plans to boost the sales of the BT-50 model. This includes updated design, a longer list of standard features, and a more modern cabin design.

The next 2023 Mazda BT-50 will be redesigned. A few months ago, Mazda indicated something like this might happen, though this is not official yet. The BT-50 is a good pickup truck, but it looks a bit outdated. That is why some significant visual changes are about to happen. The new architecture is just the beginning.
The new platform can accommodate a hybrid powertrain, which is great. In addition, Mazda is likely to change the dimensions of the truck, but not drastically. Whatsoever, most of the exterior features will grow in size as well. That includes a new wider grille and headlamps. The grille looks more stylish, and both headlights and taillights are finished in a different shape.
Interior Accessories
There will also be changes inside the 2023 Mazda BT-50. We expect a couple of significant updates. For a start, more upright content will come from this cycle of refreshments. On the other hand, the interior layout and its color schemes will remain intact. Mazda will reduce the number of buttons so a new arrangement of controls is a possibility.
The BT-50 will grow in size so we expect an improved interior room. More room and more standard amenities will surely make this model more competitive. The Japanese manufacturer will provide more safety features as well, but trim levels are the same as on the current model.
Engine Specs
Perhaps the greatest mystery at this time is what’s under the hood. A new engine is a possibility, but the 2023 Mazda BT-50 will probably offer the same engines as the current model. Indeed, new platform clearly indicates some changes. A hybrid powertrain could be the solution, but we are waiting for Mazda to make it official. What is certain is Mazda’s turbodiesel engine.

A 2.3-liter engine will be offered once again without any doubts. A 3.0-liter is just one of the rumored engines that could become available. Both Isuzu and Mazda are already using this powertrain that can generate 195 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque.
2023 Mazda BT-50 Price and Release Date
The all-new 2023 Mazda BT-50 will arrive at a slightly higher price. However, pricing is not official yet. The Japanese manufacturer will release more details in the coming months. As for the launch date, the new BT-50 pickup truck will hit the dealerships in the second half of 2022. Hopefully, Mazda will introduce a new hybrid powertrain option.
