The all-new 2023 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X enters the modern age with a fresh design. Besides a ton of off-road equipment, this pickup truck also features a futuristic face, and plenty of advanced technology.
Unlike the standard model, the Pro-4X trim has a beefier suspension, an electronically locking rear differential, and other rugged add-ons. However, like the all other Frontier versions, there’s only one powertrain option. Nissan equipped the new pickup with the same 3.8-liter V-6 engine generating 310 horses. On top of that, Frontier Pro-4X is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, and basic two-wheel-drive system.

The new 2023 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X is currently one of the best off-roaders on the market. Alongside this model, the manufacturer also offers a Pro-X truck. Of course, Pro-4X includes more features and an electronic-locking rear differential to provide extra grip in any conditions.
The Pro-4X also offers an Off-Road mode function with a new around-view monitoring system. This system gives drivers a better look at obstacles near the truck when off-roading in low range at low speeds. On top of that, three underbody skid plates are available, and two of them now cover the transfer case and fuel tank, providing some extra protection.
Cabin Layout and Specs
Inside, the forthcoming 2023 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X looks sportier than the regular pickup. It features the same seating layout, but it comes with a few additional options. Besides, the Pro-4x also comes standard with leather seating, and it offers many orange accents throughout the cabin. Basically, even the stitched PRO-4X logo that is placed in the middle of the seats is orange. As for the safety and driver-assistance features, this pickup includes a vast assortment of driver-assistance technology as part of Nissan Safety Shield 360. It features blind-spot monitoring and rear-cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, automated emergency braking, and more.
2023 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X Engine and EPA Figures
Like all Frontier’s models, the Pro-4X version will deploy the same engine. Basically, the 2023 Nissan Frontier is available with one engine option. It deploys an aluminum-block 3.8-liter V6 powertrain that generates 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque. This engine sends power to wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission.
The EPA hasn’t yet released fuel economy figures for the new Frontier pickup, but we should expect them to be very close to those of the 2021 model. That means we could see again figures 18 mpg city/24 mpg highway/20 mpg combined with 2WD, and 17 mpg city/23 mpg highway/19 mpg combined with 4WD.
