The upcoming 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor is almost here. Last month, we saw spy shots of the camouflaged prototype. As you know, Ford revealed Bronco in two-door and four-door versions. On top of that, the smaller Bronco Sport model is also official. Now, Blue Oval will deliver the off-road variant called the “Raptor.”
We still don’t know if the new SUV will arrive with the Raptor name, as the Warthog name is also a possibility. Clearly, the manufacturer is trying to create a whole off-road Bronco family and Raptor is a must for this lineup. Hopefully, Ford will introduce more power and plenty of off-road equipment, which Raptor is all about. Here’s what we know so far.
2023 Bronco Raptor Exterior Design
First spy shots of the new 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor are showing a lot of things. First of all, the prototype comes with the larger FORD lettering on the front grille. Moreover, we can easily spot the c-shaped headlights beneath the camouflage. The front fascia looks more aggressive and Bronco Raptor comes with an athletic stance.
On the other hand, some parts are perfectly camouflaged. Blue Oval will offer new skid plates and plenty of off-road equipment. As with any other Raptor, this one will also introduce a lot of mechanical upgrades. We also expect to see unique exterior colors and Bronco Raptor comes with a higher ride than the regular Bronco SUV.
Under the Hood
Bronco SUV will offer a 2.7-liter turbo-six engine and it will generate 310 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. However, the 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor will develop more than that. This means the high-performance off-road version will gain a different engine. The most likely candidate is a 3.0-liter turbo-six unit that can be found in the Explorer ST SUV.
Moreover, a 3.5-liter engine that powers the F-150 pickup is also a possibility. This powertrain option creates 450 hp and up to 510 lb-ft of torque. Also, this unit comes with lower output and it is rated at 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of twists.
Mechanical Updates
This is one of the most important things about the 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor, and any other Raptor. The 2023MY comes with new and larger tires. Moreover, 17-inch wheels will be offered as standard. Under the skin, Bronco Raptor comes with beefier suspension and Bilstein shocks. 35-inch off-road tires are on offer, and the spy photos are showing orange shocks.
We think Ford is working on the electronically controlled bypass shocks. This makes perfect sense as the F-150 Raptor variant comes with the same 3.0 Fox shocks. Without any doubt, the new Bronco Raptor will offer amazing off-road capabilities, and it will rival Jeep Wrangler and its range-topping trim levels.
2023 Ford Bronco Raptor Price, Release Date
This model won’t come cheap and many experts are predicting a price that starts at about $60,000. The 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor will hit the dealerships later in 2021, probably around November. As we said, we still don’t know if this variant will arrive with the “Raptor” or “Warthog” name.
