The forthcoming 2023 Ford Courier is an old nameplate that makes a return to the markets. However, Courier will now arrive as a compact pickup truck. Some reports are suggesting a new name, but for now, Courier is also on the cards. It is a unibody pickup that will reach the American shores in the near future.
A rugged styling is visible at first glance, and Courier will slot below the Ranger mid-size pickup. Moreover, Courier will fill in the gaps opened by Focus and Fiesta models that are no longer available. A new pickup truck could also arrive under the “Ranchero” name. The third likely outcome is a pickup truck that will feature “Bronco” in its name.
2023 Courier Rides On The Unibody Platform
The all-new 2023 Ford Courier will get a recognizable company’s design language. It will look rugged, and it will ride on the unibody platform. Styling cues are almost the same as the cues on the Ranger pickup truck. On the other hand, some parts are clearly taken from the Bronco Sport SUV. Courier will look boxy, and it will get a blockier front part. The side profile looks traditional as Ford didn’t want to deliver a futuristic appearance as some other automakers.
The Blue Oval manufacturer will offer a normal bed with beefier wheel arches. The rear part hosts a tailgate trim panel that looks great. The cab flows into the bed, and it provides a more modern appearance. The platform supports a standard front-wheel-drive setup, like a brand’s popular crossovers such as Bronco Sport, Ford Escape or Lincoln Corsair.
Two Engine Options
The approaching 2023 Ford Courier will use a couple of familiar engines. Developing a brand-new engine is too expensive, so Ford will opt for two reliable EcoBoost powertrain options. Some leaked documents are confirming this theory, and Courier will get the same engines as the Bronco Sport SUV. It makes perfect sense as the two models are sharing the same architecture.
A 1.5-liter EcoBoost is standard, and it is a three-cylinder output with 180 horsepower. A 2.0-liter turbo-four engine is optional, and it generates 250 hp. An eight-speed automatic transmission is available. Interestingly, similar engine lineup is available in the Ford Escape.
Possible Names
The all-new 2023 Ford Courier is on the way, but a compact pickup truck could arrive with a different name. Courier is just one of the possible outcomes. Different reports are suggesting different names, and “Ranchero” is one of the options. Reviving old nameplates is a popular thing nowadays.
Plenty of carmakers are deciding for this move, and Ford Bronco is the finest example. Interestingly, Courier pickup could become a member of the “Bronco” family. That means a new compact pickup truck could arrive as the Ford Bronco Pickup Truck.
2023 Ford Courier Release Date and Price
The forthcoming 2023 Ford Courier is in the production stage, and Ford is building its new model in Mexico. The price is still not available, but Courier will definitely slot below the mid-size Ranger pickup. That means the price will start between $25,000 and $30,000. The sales will begin later in 2021.
