The upcoming 2023 Mazda CX-5 will be replaced with a new model. According to the latest reports, this model will hit the dealerships with a different name. Many sources say that the next-gen model would be called CX-50.
So far, the CX-5 is one of the better mid-size SUVs with good selling numbers. Furthermore, this crossover SUV comes with the newest SkyActiv engine and it provides great performances. Moreover, a new 48-volt mild-hybrid setup is available and it delivers improved fuel efficiency.
Mazda CX-5 Redesign
According to the latest reports, Mazda will replace the 2023 Mazda CX-5 with a new model called Mazda CX-50. This is not official yet, but the most reliable sources already wrote about this. The same reports are saying that the new model will offer an attractive look, but Kodo design language will remain. As you might know, the current CX-5 model is one of the best-looking crossovers in its segment. Moreover, the CX-5 Carbon model will be in the offer too.
This model comes with a recognizable Polymetal Gray exterior color, stylish 19-inch wheels, and black metallic grille. As for the new CX-50, it will reportedly get a new platform based on the rear-wheel-drive. Moreover, the same architecture underpins the new-gen Mazda 6. However, more precise design details are yet to be unveiled.
As for the interior design, we think this model will get mid-cycle updates. The base 2023 Mazda CX-5 model should get more upright materials. This trim level offers a standard 10.25-inch display, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, cloth upholstery, and numerous USB ports. Moreover, a leather-wrapped steering wheel is offered as standard.
The CX-5 Touring variant comes with more equipment and more luxury. For an instance, the Touring model offers a premium Bose audio system, power moonroof, and leather upholstery. The CX-5 Carbon model is similar, but it adds more sportiness and stuff such as black door mirrors and red upholstery.
New Engine Works With Hybrid System
In terms of power, new 2023 Mazda CX-5 will use a couple of powertrain options. New engine is a possibility as well. The first option will be a 2.5-liter four-cylinder SkyActiv-G unit. This engine is mated to a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and it generates 185 horsepower. Moreover, the turbocharged variant of the same engine is a very probable outcome.
A 2.2-liter four-cylinder SkyActiv-D is a diesel drivetrain that will be optional. Moreover, a larger 3.0-liter will arrive with the new SkyActiv-X technology and it will also deploy the same hybrid setup. Lastly, the most powerful engine will be a 3.3-liter diesel.
