According to the latest stories, the upcoming 2023 Ram Dakota is in the works. This pickup truck will be launched in the later stages of 2021. Dakota is an iconic model that has been discounted in 2012. This model had a similar story to the Ford Ranger. However, Ranger continued to roll in other parts of the world. As for the Dakota, this model is making a comeback under the Ram badge, not Dodge’s.
So far, we know most of the things about this old-new nameplate. That includes its powertrain options and its design. Of course, Ram could deliver a surprise or two, especially inside the cabin. Here’s everything we know about the new 2023 Dakota.
2023 Dakota Looks Like Ram 1500
Not surprisingly, the new 2023 Ram Dakota is inspired by the larger Ram 1500 pickup truck. That includes the same design language, muscular appearance, and some exterior parts that are almost the same. The front fascia comes with a bold trapezoidal chrome grille. This grille is flanked by LED headlights and the lower bumper is slightly different.
To the sides, this model will wear the same sheet metal, but the doors and fenders will depart from the Ram 1500 pickup. Dakota will arrive with unique rear fascia with short-bed and wedge-shaped LED taillights. We are waiting for the manufacturer to reveal wheels and some other exterior parts.
Pleasant Interior
The same story continues inside the cabin. The approaching 2023 Ram Dakota will look exceptional. The interior is full of new high-tech amenities, build quality is great, along with the upright design. Like the Ram 1500, the Dakota model will probably arrive with the same 12-inch touchscreen. This unit will get the same interface and the latest version of the infotainment system. Upper trim levels will get more premium finished and more standard features.
The spacious cabin is a must for every Ram vehicle, although Dakota is smaller than its Ram 1500 sibling. Exact dimensions are not available but we are convinced that the Ram will deliver a smart cabin layout. Lastly, Ram will offer a digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, Wi-Fi, heated/ventilated seats, and Harman Kardon sound system.
Engine Specs, Towing Capacity
As a smaller pickup, the 2023 Ram Dakota won’t offer larger combustion engines. Instead, Dakota will deploy a 3.6-liter V6. This is a familiar engine that is available in most of the FCA’s models. However, Dakota will pair its V6 with a 48-volt eTorque system. It is a mild-hybrid setup that is capable of producing up to 305 horsepower.

The optional 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 should be available as well. Diesel powertrain generates 260 hp and up to 480 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to that, the new Dakota will be able to tow around 12,000 pounds. An eight-speed automatic transmission is in offer, along with the optional four-wheel-drive system.
2023 Ram Dakota Release Date and Price
Many reports are predicting the price that starts at around $30,000. The upcoming 2023 Ram Dakota will go on sale in the last quarter of 2022. The reason for such a late arrival is because most of the established models are arriving next summer. That includes models such as Ford Ranger, Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Frontier, and Chevrolet Colorado.
