The upcoming 2023 GMC Sierra has been spied a couple of weeks ago. New model will host various changes, both in and out. Beside new Sierra, Chevrolet Silverado will host almost the same updates. That includes numerous exterior improvements and interior enhancements. The prototype wears a heavy camouflage but most of the upgrades are visible at first glance.
However, some parts are hard to be seen. The all-new Sierra will go on sale next summer and it will cost more than its predecessor. Performance should remain but diesel powertrain is still the biggest question.
2023 Sierra Spied With a Facelift

Even the spied prototype with a heavy camouflage shows that something is different. The 2023 GMC Sierra won’t get a complete redesign as some stories are suggesting. However, mid-cycle facelift is more than enough at the moment. New Sierra will arrive with a refreshed look. That includes changes on the front fascia.
The black plastic mesh grille looks more modern and the camouflage perfectly hides additional chrome accents. The openings are suggesting that Sierra will get front camera or a radar. The rear section won’t change that much but reshaped taillights are easy to spot. On top of that, rear bumper looks bolder. The side profile remains intact.
Interior Upgrades
While the spy shots are not showing interior updates, most of them are already familiar to us. The forthcoming 2023 GMC Sierra will get the same improvements as the Chevrolet Silverado pickup. That includes a 10-inch tablet-like touchscreen and more high-quality materials. Cabin design is also improved and smarter layout will provide more interior room.
Everything looks sleeker than before, including the all-digital instrument cluster with a 15-inch head-up display. Rear-seat entertainment system is optional and it adds 12.6-inch displays. Small tweaks on and around the dash will happen as well.
Will GM Improve Diesel Engine?
Some reports are predicting for new 2023 GMC Sierra to arrive with a new powertrain option. We think that won’t happen until the next-gen Sierra arrives. Moreover, a 3.0-liter Duramax diesel engine is a subject of various rumors too. This inline-six engine could get higher level of torque and better cooling. This should lead to an improved towing capacity.
Beside diesel, Sierra offers two familiar gasoline engine options. First one is a 4.3-liter V6 and the second engine is an optional 5.3-liter V8. We are sure that gasoline units won’t get any sort of improvement for 2023. Moreover, we believe that Sierra won’t get new powerplant.
2023 GMC Sierra Price and Release Date
Many reports predicted for 2021 Sierra to get more drastic updates. However, it is the 2023 GMC Sierra that will gain serious interior changes and mid-cycle exterior refreshments. Sierra pickup follows the same path as the Tahoe and Suburban SUVs in terms of improvements. For that reason, the price will now start at around $33,000. The sales of the new Sierra pickup truck will begin next summer.
